Teaching at the Kent Academy

Light Elegance

I’ve always been very creative and I studied Fine Art at Kent Institute of Art and Design. In 2013 at the age of 32 I decided to take a massive step and change my career. I got into painting my friend’s nails using regular polish and being a total "Geek" I needed to know everything so I enrolled on an NVQ Level 2 Nail Technology program at a nearby college and completed my training at Merit level. Researching nail salons in my area I found Liza Smith, S2 educator in Kent by accident which led me to Sweet Squared. I saw the education courses they offered and booked a 1-2-1 class with Liza to help build my confidence and knowledge and it changed my life! I finally felt ready to take on the nail world.
When I'm not with my regular clients or teaching at the Kent Academy I can be found backstage at London's fashion week and Paris haute couture shows tending to the nail needs of models, celebrities and designers. It’s hectic and faster paced and I LOVE IT. I want to give my students; the tools, the skills and the knowledge they need to feel they are the best they can be.
"If you can paint a perfect nail, balancing on one knee, holding your client’s hand whilst being knocked by a make-up artist and a hair dryer blowing in your face then you've cracked it! I met Samantha Sweet in 2014 at Olympia Beauty Show, Sweet Squared had a huge stand with pictures of all of their Educators displayed and I told her I want my picture up there one day! She said work hard and anything is possible...
I always thought I was 100% a L&P girl and nothing would ever sway me away until I found Light Elegance. Light Elegance products are like working with magic and I can’t wait to show you the endless possibilities which will be at your fingertips when investing into this brand and training. With Light Elegnace you can offer a truly prescriptive, personal set of nails for every client, you can mix and match the products to completely fit all clients nails needs. I love how artistic Light Elegance allows me to be with the amazing range of colours and glitters.... But most of all I love that Light Elegance have a  love of chemistry which means my clients are in safe hands with these carefully developed products. My priority as a nail technician is to keep happy, healthy hands and nails so this is why its important i use a brand i can believe in. "
I look forward to meeting my future students and you can find me on my social media page.  @AmysTipsAndToes
