Gemma Pinfield-Thomas - known to many as 'PT' or 'Lady PT' - worked as a manager with a bank for several years, before realising that her love of nails should be central to her career. She retrained part time and set up her own business, Up To Scratch, in 2003.
In 2010 Gemma took the advice of industry legend, Gigi Rouse, and invested in her first CND™ products, following the launch of their revolutionary uv-cured polish, SHELLAC™. Gemma loved the products so much that she later converted over to their nail enhancement systems, under Gigi's watchful eye. Gemma graduated CND Shellac Bootcamp in May 2011, with the added honour of being awarded Best Academics and winning Best Nail Style. A trip to San Diego - the home of CND - for a second CND Bootcamp saw her become a full systems CND Education Ambassador in 2013.
In addition to teaching classes in South Warwickshire, Gemma feels privileged to be responsible for the education of therapists in several spas around the country; she also still operates a busy home salon business to this day.
Gemma says, "If you are considering retraining and embarking on a career in the beauty industry, but concerned about learning new skills, I always say, "An expert in anything was once a beginner" - and I genuinely believe there has never been a better time to be a beginner with CND than right now. The skills required to become a full-service CND nail professional are now divided out into separate classes, giving you the opportunity not only to learn and practice each new skill at your own pace before moving on to the next one, but to spread the cost of your training too."
"I also love how relevant the training we offer is: every class is designed to equip our students with real skills that will enable them to confidently build successful businesses. A key example is our nail art classes: here we teach beautiful designs that are simple to create and easy to replicate, yet still give that 'wow' factor."
"Above all, it's great to know that I make a difference. Sharing knowledge through our excellent education programme - both with total beginners and experienced nail professionals - helps to dispel myths, empower individuals and elevate the state of our industry as a whole. I believe it was Kofi Annan who said, "Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family""
